Welcome to Nutmeg Natural Health Clinic (NNHC). Our intention is to serve the health care needs of our community by providing natural and safe means of treatment and prevention of illness. We wish to serve as a community resource for natural health education, and to work with other healthcare practitioners to optimize the health of the community. We thank you for choosing us as a part of your health care team.
In an effort to establish clear communication and understanding between physician and patient, our office policies regarding fees, payments, and appointments are listed below. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to ask.
Payment and Insurance Information
It is our pleasure to provide you with effective and quality health care. NNHC is affiliated with a number of major insurance companies (i.e. Aetna, CIGNA, BC&BS, etc.). You are responsible for payments regardless of insurance coverage. At your request, you will receive a detailed receipt to help in your request for reimbursement from your insurance carrier. NNHC does not bill or affiliate with Medicare/Medicaid. Medicare/Medicaid do not reimburse for services, lab tests, nutrition consultations, or preventative medicine from a naturopathic physician.
Payment is due at the time of service for office visits, lab tests, and dispensary products. We accept cash, checks, major credit cards, and debit cards. If your check is returned for non-sufficient funds you will be charged $35.00.
Appointments and Cancellation
When you call and schedule an appointment, time is reserved for you and no one else. We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice of postponement or cancellation. If you do not give at least 24 hours notice before your appointment, you will be charged $25.00. Failure to show up for an appointment will result in a $45.00 charge.
Phone Calls
There is no charge for brief questions during office hours. However, if you call about a new or more involved health concern, you will be asked to schedule an appointment or charged for a phone consultation. Phone consultations are billed as regular appointments.
No diagnosis or treatment can be performed over the phone. Dr. Stratford will only make health recommendations, provide counsel on diet and lifestyle questions, or create treatment plans for pre-diagnosed medical conditions.
Dr. Stratford is not available on a 24-hour emergency basis. If you have a serious health problem that requires immediate attention, you should call 911, or have someone take you to the nearest hospital emergency room.

(ex. routine blood work, hormone panels, food allergy testing, stool analysis, heavy metal screen, etc.)
Fees are subject to change and certain procedures have separate fees. (You may be referred out for some laboratory services.) These reflect a “payment at time of service discount.” If payment is not received at time of service you will be charged an additional 10% for billing and an interest rate of 18% will be applied accordingly for late payments.
Nutritional supplements and lab testing are not included in appointment fees. Patients are responsible to pay for all nutritional supplements or other dispensary products at time of service.
